Magnum Opus Management is pleased to announce the signing of a contribution agreement with the Government of Yukon for the development of The Pitch: Online Showcase for the Performing Arts.
The goal of The Pitch is to facilitate discovery of performing artists in the digital world. We strive to create a geographic and digital level playing field for touring artists and shows from remote and rural Canada to showcase for performing arts and concert presenters in cities and towns across the country.
Even as COVID-19 has disrupted much of the live arts sector, it is clear that Canadians rely on the arts to bring them together in shared experiences. Indeed, the entire performing arts sector is working toward its recovery as the pandemic is expected to subside in the coming months with the adoption of effective vaccines. The Pitch is poised to help re-ignite the live arts on tour.
“I am thrilled Yukon’s Department of Economic Development is supporting this Yukon-led national initiative. Together with federal funding from Canada Council for the Art’s Digital Strategy Fund, this investment by the Strategic Industries Development Fund brings us closer to delivering this much-needed digital showcase platform for the performing arts sector cross Canada. While the project’s inception pre-dates the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this visionary business-to-business platform has met with a great sense of urgency from artists, agents and managers as well as presenters, arts venues and presenting networks.” - Debbie Peters, Magnum Opus Management
The Pitch team, led by Inga Petri, Strategic Moves operating from Whitehorse, Yukon, is working toward a public beta release in the summer of 2021.
